As a fitness professional, I can’t stress the importance of not looking at the bathroom scale everyday, after workouts, or literally after using the restroom. On your fitness journey your weight will go up and down. Jumping from scale to scale is one of the worst things you can do. That being said you need to have a quality scale that you exclusively use to measure your progress. After a lot of shopping around and spec comparisons, I found the complete package. I want to go over some of the features of the Body fat calculating scale and give an honest review after personally using it for 30 days.
The Posture body fat bathroom scale is super high quality and most importantly accurate. The Posture scale is equipped with 4 high precision G-shape sensors and 4 high sensitive electrodes. These sensors are calibrated for accuracy and body composition detection. The scale uses advanced BIA (Bioelectrical impedance analysis) technology to ensure your accurate readings. Weight measurement is accurate within 0.2lb/100g of weight with a max weight of 400 lbs. The scale uses this technology to accurately calculate BMI (body mass index), body fat, subcutaneous fat, body water, protein, BMR, body age, and more. The body age feature measures your relative health compared to your age. Subcutaneous fat is the fat found just below the skin. So when you pinch fat from your arm or the side of your torso, this is what you are grabbing.
This is a true smart scale. The wireless bathroom scale connects to the free Starfit app via bluetooth. The smart phone Starfit mobile app is available on both Android and Apple IOS devices. The app is very easy to navigate and manage. After instillation you will be asked to setup a free account to keep track of your measurements. Account setup takes less than 5 minutes. Multiple profiles can be used with the scale. As long as Bluetooth is turned on – on
your smartphone the new measurements will populate in your profile. When multiple people use the scale you will be asked to confirm which measurement belongs to you. This is a true game changer. This has allowed me to track multiple clients. The free smart phone app that works with this Bluetooth smart scale also easily integrates with several other fitness apps. I was able to connect my smart scale to my phone and have the information migrate to my Fitbit app seamlessly. The Starfit App also can easily sync with Apple Health, Google Fit, and Samsung Health to name a few. Other apps may not track the full scope of information gathered by this smart scale which tells you just how robust this scale is.
The on scale digital display is large and easy to see. All icons shown on the smart app appear on the scales bright vibrate color display. For those who may not immediately know what a measurement means, you can touch the icon in the app and get a brief explanation of the information being provided. Not only will the scale explain what is being measured, based on your height, age, and weight, it will tell you if it is bad, good, or average. A major issue with a lot of smart scales that measure BMI was clearly addressed with this device. Most scales are designed for the average person and don’t take into account the body composition of an athlete. This scale asks if you want to have your stats measure with an athlete’s body in mind. This drastically helps measurement comparison accuracy.
In the Starfit app and Smart Scale analyzes measurements for weight, BMI, Body Fat, Muscle Rate, Fat-Free Body Weight, Subcutaneous Fat, Visceral Fat, Body Water, Skeletal Muscle, Muscle Mass, Bone Mass, Protein, BMR, Body Age, Heart Rate, and Cardiac Index. All measurements are marked with a date and time. The change of your readings are also tracked on the “chart” tab in the app. The line graph gives a clear indication of ups and downs in your fitness journey. You are also able to set a target for weight and see how close you are to reaching your goal.
After consistent usage, I’m extremely happy with the scale. It’s allowed me to track the progress of my clients as well as myself. I haven’t had any issues with the smart scale not finding the mobile app. The tempered glass surface can get a bit cold at times as it is required that you stand on the scale barefoot to gather data beyond weight. Because the scale is made of glass it can be easily wiped clean. The Posture Body Fat Scale is powered by 4 AAA batteries. The scale has Step-on Technology it only powers on when you apply pressure. This Step-on Technology provides a long battery life. Overall this was an amazing deal for the price.
